ABSTRACT

I have chosen to write about my work with the survivors of the Nazi Holocaust, set in the voluntary sector of Jewish Care – formerly the Jewish Welfare Board (JWB) – because it is a subject I feel passionately about, both personally and professionally. Looking at it in the context of the agency is a new angle for me. It makes me reflect on the years of development in both my work and in myself within the agency and how the two have become intertwined. I write because I want to show the process I have been through in this special area of work; to spare others some of the pitfalls that have inevitably happened and also to pass on what I have learned.
