ABSTRACT

Whereas several contributions to this volume have concentrated on the measurement of death attitudes, this chapter has an applied focus: the modification of death attitudes through death education. There are four major sections. A brief overview of death education is provided first, followed by a discussion of the impact of death education programs on various death attitudes. In the third section, I discuss basic theory and research on attitude change, and in the final section I show how these theories and techniques relate to death education.
