ABSTRACT

Demographic and psychosexual profiles of seventy-two male exposers who presented for assessment and/or treatment at a mid-western university sexual health clinic were investigated. The profile summaries herein should be taken as indicative of common problems encountered in treating exhibitionists, rather encountered than definitive of the population of exhibitionists. The Derogatis Sexual Functioning Inventory was added to the assessment packet later, and thus the number of available responses was reduced. As part of standard assessment procedures, persons presenting for sex offender treatment attend five to six one-hour interviews, and completed a battery of psychosexual testing. At the end of the assessment, each case was presented at a staff disposition meeting and associated diagnoses identified. The psychometrics of of profiling assumes that there is a distinct psychological pattern across the profiling assumes that thereis a distinct psychological pattern across the population of exposers.
