ABSTRACT
This paper was delivered by Dr. Albert Ellis at ONE's Midwinter Institute in Los Angeles on January 26, 1957. It represents a remarkably clear example of the types of attitudes held by those members of the scientific community who were clinically sympathetic to homosexuals. In light of the massive subsequent social changes of the 1960s, Dr. Ellis's forecast of an unchanging American society is quaint.
