ABSTRACT
This text is part of an address given by Fair at the seventh annual convention of the National Association of Black and White Men Together, meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the summer of 1987. Alyn Hess was a prominent gay activist in Milwaukee, founder of the local Gay People's Union of Milwaukee in 1970, and a cofounder of Black and White Men Together. He died in 1989 of AIDS.
