At the time she issued this statement, Goldberg was a staff attorney for the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund. She later co-edited the 1998 book Strangers to the Law: Gay People on Trial with Lisa Keen and served as executive director of the Lesbian and Gay Immigration Rights Task Force (LGIRTF) in Washington, DC.
