ABSTRACT

This letter, printed in the January/February issue of the Mattachine Review, was written by an official of the California Republican Party. It is intended as a response to what the accompanying note refers to as “critical remarks about sex variants” made by Senator Everett M. Dirksen during the 1954 campaign on September 22 at the Biltmore Hotel in Hollywood before a gathering of Republican women. The note accompanying the letter states that “because the writer admitted having homosexual tendencies, no name can be revealed.”
