ABSTRACT

This is the full text of the testimony prepared by Timothy E. Drake, openly gay delegate to the Republican National Convention from the 9th District of Illinois, which he was not allowed to read but only to submit in written form to the Temporary Committee on Resolutions, meeting in Chicago, Illinois, on May 23, 1980. Drake was the first openly gay person ever to have won a delegate spot in the Republican Convention. This document was originally published on the front page of the June 6, 1980, issue of GayLife, Chicago's gay and lesbian community newspaper.
