ABSTRACT
This speech was given at the Gay Freedom Day celebration in San Jose, California, on June 22, 1980. Quinn was the archbishop of San Francisco and resigned in December 1995. Nichols had been the editor of the California newspaper issued by the Sisters of Sappha, Lesbian Voices, for five years at the time this speech was given.
