The situation of spontaneous speech usually includes two ubiquitous conditions: people hear themselves as they talk and they see their interlocutors. Primarily, this chapter concerns the role of the auditory feedback in the control of spontaneous speech and interaction, and in determining subjective experience. Very secondarily, it also deals with the role of the visual input from the audience.
