ABSTRACT

Positive and negative motivational objects as expressed by our subjects are situated in the psychological time dimension. They are events or situations that may occur, goals to be achieved, or things one intends to do. Some of these objects (1) may refer to a way of being and behaving that lasts for a more or less long period (e.g. to keep fit), or to qualities one wants to have from now on and for a more or less unlimited time (e.g. to be less impulsive). Other objects are less closely related to a period in the individual's personal life, but have to do with, for example, the development of his family, business, social class, or mankind in general (e.g. food supply in the Third World; unemployment, etc.).
