ABSTRACT

Clarification of the roles and relationships between cognition and affect is of theoretical and practical importance. The theoretical significance rests on the assumption that understanding the cognition-affect connection is a crucial building block to understanding human functioning because cognition and affect are labels denoting two basic sets of human actions. With such understanding we would be able to enhance our theoretical and practical approach to human development. On such bases, we could develop practical (clinical and/or educational) ways to help individuals function effectively, particularly by keeping thoughts and emotions functioning in harmony.
