ABSTRACT

Sarah operates a futon shop in a small city in Eastern Canada. She is considering selling her business because fatigue and mobility problems due to multiple sclerosis make it impossible for her to rise to greet customers as they enter her shop. They are usually "put off" by her perceived lack of hospitality, and she is tired of having to explain that she has MS. A friend loans her a cane, a cue to customers that she has a mobility problem.
