ABSTRACT

It is always fun to begin with a profound statement from one of the founding dignitaries. This time I’ll cite Sigmund Freud, the bearded patriarchal pro-founder. He wrote: “There is nothing for it but to summon help from the Witch—the witch metapsychology. Without roetapsychological speculation and theorizing—I had almost said ‘fantasy’—we shall not get a step further” (Freud, 1937, p. 326).
