ABSTRACT
The ideas that Dr. Erickson conveyed and the principles that he represented, rather than merely his interventions, constitute the elements of an Ericksonian approach. Concepts examined here define an Ericksonian approach as positive and individualistic, strategic, systems-oriented, hypnotic, valuing action over insight, based on utilizing client behaviors, and emphasizing indirect methods of communication.
