ABSTRACT

My therapy room has no dominant chair specifically appointed "for the therapist." It is arranged with a loveseat, two cane-backed armchairs on each side and two upholstered tub chairs, on wheels, facing. The loveseat provides an opportunity for two people to sit side by side. Since it seats two, choosing it involves physical closeness and the opportunity for easy touching. The armchairs are light and are easily moved. The room is large enough for the armchairs to be moved back about three feet. The waiting room chairs are similar and can be brought in when needed. All the seats are the same height. The only significant difference is the cane-backed chairs have firmer support for the back.
