ABSTRACT
“It is time to come in!,” a phrase voiced almost daily by many child care workers in residential or day care settings, exemplifies the essence of child care. “Come in” conveys the personal request of the worker who wishes to shift the living from outside to inside. “It is time” denotes that life proceeds in an organized fashion within this program.
