ABSTRACT

This chapter provides the researcher a basic knowledge of concepts and sources required to find information in federal government documents. Persistence yields results when attempting to locate government documents. The National Labor Relations Board's web site is the single most convenient source for many current government publications issued by the Board containing information about the agency's mission, origin, structure, and operation. Basic documents useful in understanding the Board's mission, operation, and procedures are included on the site. A better understanding of procedures the Board uses in addressing its caseload will strengthen the standing of those seeking protection and compliance with the Labor Act. The Board produces a series of reports initially written for internal distribution but distributed publicly on its web site in an effort to promote greater awareness of Board policy and standards applied in its decisions and rule making process.
