ABSTRACT
From a project manager's perspective, major issues, achievements, and decisions in the FABEL project are reviewed. They concern the plan of the project that was changed to support an exploratory approach, the software architecture that was designed in a strictly decentralized way, the representation of designs and cases that provides a common format that is further interpreted by the individual methods, and the set of methods that consists of universalist case-based methods and specialized knowledge-based ones.
