ABSTRACT

The discussion of decisions in business and industrial contexts at the Second Conference on Naturalistic Decision Making (NDM; June 1994) reaffirmed the characteristics of naturalistic decision making discussed earlier (e.g., Lipshitz, 1993; Orasanau &. Connolly, 1993), but it also suggested some other peculiarities of decision making in this context. The purpose of this chapter is to examine the descriptions of decision making in business and industrial organizations provided by the panel (Lee Beach, Scott martin, William Rouse, and Janet Sniezek) on NDM in business and industry.
