ABSTRACT

300 301This paper tries to identify at least some connections between all of the talks presented orally at this conference. First, it reviews several approaches to linking quantum theory and neural systems (biological or artificial). Next, it shows how Pribram's notion of “dendritic field” systems can be interpreted without quantum theory, to yield a “third class” of neural network, combining some of the best features of the multilayer perceptron (MLP) and of more association-based learning systems. Finally, it describes some alternative views of the mind/body problem, as discussed at this conference.
