ABSTRACT
In contrast to the other chapters in this volume that focus on human bootstrapping from signal to syntax, this chapter presents an overview of automatic methods of analyzing prosody. We outline advantages of statistical approaches in combination with speech and language knowledge, and illustrate these approaches with examples from computational models of prosody.
