ABSTRACT

On February 4th 1990, 7-year-old Julie was roller skating back to her home on the outskirts of Brighton, England. As she passed a red car parked at the side of the road, she was seized from behind by a man who forced her into the trunk and then drove off. In the darkness of the trunk, Julie found a hammer which she used to bang on the door. The man told her to “shut up.” Later she was to recall, “I heard gravel from the road hitting the car. There was music, I can't remember what kind, coming from inside the car. I hit on the door with the hammer. I took the roller boots off because if he opened the trunk I could get away quicker.”
