Proximate Social Influences on Field Dependence—Independence

With the publication of the book Psychological Differentiation in 1962, Witkm and his associates placed the cognitive style of field dependence-independence (FDI) clearly within a developmental perspective. I only need to recall the subtitle of the book, Studies of Development, to illustrate this point. Within this developmental perspective, a choice for a specific developmental model was made.
