ABSTRACT
This chapter explores research methodology and ethical issues related to eyewitness memory for stressful events. Past and current approaches to the study of emotion and memory are summarized and inadequacies in past research are highlighted. Because of the diversity of research methods used, and the lack of uniformity of the phenomena studied, we present some distinctions that we hope are helpful in interpreting past findings and in guiding future research on memory for stressful events.
