ABSTRACT
For those of us who study parent beliefs as predictors of parent actions, the success rate for uncovering robust findings between stated beliefs and overt actions has been disappointing. Although it seems reasonable to contend that what a person believes guides his or her action, the empirical data do not provide the kinds of information that support this conviction. The question is: Why is the task so difficult?
