ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the study in which, an analysis of children's questions both single queries and series of them was carried out from the point of view that the questions fulfill in the cognitive and social development of preschool child. The coding and analysis were performed separately for the single questions and the question series. The cognitive needs that stimulate the informational questions indirectly influence the questions connected with the exchange of emotions and attitudes. Question series constitute a kind of conversation between a child and an adult. The way of playing both these roles by the child is interconnected and indicates the interpersonal function in question series. The description of situational context in children's diaries made it easy to classify question instances in particular categories and subcategories. Preschool aged children are in the stage of heteronomic morality, and their behavior is oriented by the rule that they do it well, because other person wants them to do this.
