ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the study which will take up the issues relevant to an interactionist pragmatic approach to semantic analysis, such as has been raised by Jarovinskij and Fabricius, and Kielhofer and Jonekeit. Issues of lexical development have been of interest to many investigators into early bilingualism. The issues of early equivalents have been treated and discussed by several authors. However, the issues raised by Leopold and Taeschner seemed to be of prime interest for the purpose of this study, not only because they are provocative, but also because they are based on empirical material collected in a way similar to corpora in this study. Most of the arguments will be based on the data collected in a longitudinal study of four children ranging in age from 0;10 to 1;11 years. In this study, typical examples are presented to show advantages of interactional pragmatic approach to semantic analysis and to support argument between them who developed more lexical systems.
