ABSTRACT

Introduction: This exercise was developed in e-mail conversations with Josée Lamarre of Montreal, Canada. Josée had written for suggestions to aid students in learning how to help clients switch from problem talk to future talk. It is based on a dialogue with Harry Korman of Malmö, Sweden, in the mid-’90s when he was a visitor sitting behind the mirror during a solution-focused meeting with a client. Harry related that he will not move on in a conversation with a client until he has a picture in his mind of what the client’s life will look like when the problem that brings them to counseling is no longer a problem.
