ABSTRACT

Due to their increasing numbers, stepfamilies have been the focus of a great deal of family research (Pasley and Diinger-Tallman, 1994; Darden and Zimmerman, 1992). As therapists, we see them in our offices frequently due to the many transitions they must make when blending two families. One of the primary issues these families face is blended parenting. “Do I parent your children?” “Do I just parent my children?” “Can I discipline your children?” “Why don't your children want to be close to me; why don't they trust me?”
