ABSTRACT

This article will discuss the Women's Literacy Corps programme (sipah-i danish-i dukhtaran), its implementation, achievements and difficulties. 1 Established in Iran in 1968, it aimed to increase women's participation in the country's modernization and in the White Revolution (inqilab-i sifid) which took place in Iran in the period 1963 to 1979 during the reign of the late Muhammad Reza Pahlavi (1941–1979).
