ABSTRACT

This chapter gives a short description of demographic figures and developments in recent history in Denmark of relevance to the topic of bullying. It is argued that during the last half century Danish society has undergone a marked development almost amounting to a revolution. This goes for public administration, industrial development and demographic figures. The immigration rate has developed markedly since the 1960s, and this contributes naturally to a period of dissonance - especially in the areas of larger cities where the concentration of population is greater. It is argued, however, that despite the many problems of tolerance, understanding and integration between ethnic groups, this issue of immigration is not strongly associated with bullying.
