ABSTRACT
The prayer to Sarapis is excerpted from a letter written by a man on a business trip in Alexandria to his wife in Oxyrhynchus. 1 On the basis of its style of handwriting it is dated by its original editor, A. S. Hunt, to the third century, ce. 2 The letter refers to several business and private concerns affecting the wellbeing of the family.
