ABSTRACT

Paul's authorship of Philippians is not disputed, but the letter is dated variously depending on where and when one places the imprisonment Paul refers to in the letter: Ephesus c. 53–5, Caesarea c. 56–9, Rome c. 59–62. Even the latest date puts the letter within thirty years of the beginning of the Christian movement, making it extremely valuable historically. There is no doubt that Phil 2:6–11 is an original portion of the letter Paul wrote.
