ABSTRACT

The first phase of our Western Wiltshire user survey got underway because of a happy set of circumstances. In October 1986, Carolyn started a sandwich-year work experience placement with Andy in the Department of Child and Family Psychiatry at the Royal United Hospital in Bath, as part of a social studies degree at Bath University. Her contact with Andy came about primarily because she was interested in learning family therapy skills, but since she was also interested in undertaking a project as part of her degree the idea of a consumer study developed organically through her contact with Andy and Sigurd.
