ABSTRACT

This volume is not about international law and “just war theory,” nor does it primarily treat the use of force in international relations. It is not a book written by and for scholars and academics exclusively interested in exploring such topics. There are already a number of excellent books devoted to those subjects. Readers primarily interested in “just war theory” as enshrined in contemporary international law, or as understood and debated in moral philosophy and international relations, would do well to consult our previously published companion volume in this series, the Routledge Handbook of Ethics and War, edited by Fritz Allhoff, Nicholas G. Evans, and Adam Henschke. 1
