ABSTRACT

Thirty young dancers from eight different nationalities move around in the studio. They are asked to recall their cell phone number and picture themselves inside an invisible three-dimensional cube, with each corner representing the numbers one to eight, the middle of the top the nine, and zero in the bottom of the cube. They have to reach to the corners to ‘dial’ their number using a different body part each time. After that, they find a partner. They open up the space to a bigger cube, and perform their dances with each other while exploring the open space in between. Although most of the young people do not speak a language other than their own, the space is filled with vibrant communication.
