ABSTRACT

This chapter describes how information from a School Student Experience Survey has enabled to tailor and target formal and informal educationally orientated interventions across the student life cycle and across degree programmes to improve the quality and outcomes of the student experience. A staff survey has also helped academic staff have a greater understanding of the student experience. The work has facilitated the development of a school student experience strategy, developed in partnership with students and staff, and which recognizes that social interaction. The quantitative and qualitative analysis of the survey showed that the most influential benchmark in determining the overall rating of the student experience was the Supportive School Environment. Working in partnership with the students in this way is invaluable to developing the portfolio of engagement interventions. The Leeds Earth and Environment Pages (LEEP) are produced by the student ambassadors each semester, and involve interviewing staff about their research, student society news, field trip reports and forthcoming events.
