ABSTRACT
Benjamin Disraeli suggests that higher education should be ‘a place of light, of liberty, and of learning’. This means, as Plato said, providing the right surroundings to gain knowledge of Good, to bring out the best in (students’) souls in order to become better human beings. To achieve this, higher education must embrace the whole person, and be intimately concerned with sharing and shaping humanity.
