Mobile learning provides the vehicle for students to become empowered with leadership in learning math by taking notes, content, and information with them wherever they go. Based upon the theory of constructivism, rooted and developed through the ages from Bruner, Dewey, Piaget and Inhelder, and Vygotsky, technology provides students with access to stimuli and guidance to construct their learning. The reality that Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is a vehicle for learning indicates that educators should loosen the structure and policies on the use of the devices and allow students to access the devices at all times. BYOD can be the catalyst that shifts the paradigm of education and allows students to take responsibility for their own learning by advocating for themselves through electronic means and with mobile capabilities. The Discussion Board format provides an ideal forum for math problem solving. Students can collaborate on the problem at hand to hash out ideas about solutions.
