ABSTRACT

Many people were surprised with the result of the 2009–2010 edition of the Global Information Technology conducted by the World Economic Forum. Since 2002, this international entity has presented a ranking of countries that use technology in favor of growth and development. In this edition, Brazil remained in the same position as last time—fifty-ninth place. Ahead were developing countries, such as South Africa, Chile, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Jordan, Kuwait and Malaysia. Other countries have shifted position in the last years. China, which occupied the fifty-seventh place in the previous ranking, now occupies the forty-sixth place.
