It is amusing that many consumers continue to have problems using their VCR. The VCR has been around a long time and yet, its complexity is still a problem. Apparently, manufacturers and advertisers know and understand that consumers are still having trouble with the VCR features, hand-held remote, and complex hook-ups. So, they know and understand the characteristics of a portion of their users and yet, is there really a VCR that is easy to use? Is there no one trying to make them easier and more convenient to use? And why is it that the children who could program the VCR 10 years ago are the adults today who are having trouble? Many of the same problems exist regarding the technologies used in distance education.
