ABSTRACT

This chapter presents programming strategies for agencies which are currently providing or considering the delivery of technology-enhanced home health care services (hereafter also referred to as high-tech services). Such issues as admissions criteria, staff training and supervision, administration and management, quality assurance, and patient assessment and training will be reviewed with special emphasis on elderly and disabled high-tech patients and their particular needs. The challenges, drawbacks, and benefits of high-tech services will be discussed. The final section of the chapter provides a review of some of the more “popular” high-tech services offered with a special focus on the latest innovations in in-home technology and service delivery.
