ABSTRACT

Why people behave the way they do is a subject that has fascinated scientists and laymen alike for centuries, with many theories having been proposed to explain human behavior. For example, the belief that abnormal-appearing behavior is caused by demonic possession or magical forces has been espoused through the ages. Other explanations include chemical imbalances within the body, inherited behavioral tendencies, childhood experiences, cultural influences, patterns of reward and punishment, and environmental conditions.
