ABSTRACT
Burr places the blame squarely on the shoulder of mental health clinicians: psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and nurses, who “write off” geriatric cases as hopeless. Actually, we have too many cases of self-fulfilling prophecy: the clinician’s assumption of untreatability becomes translated into a patient who resists treatment.
