ABSTRACT

Kubler-Ross, describes the fascinating and unlikely connection, about death and growth: Those who have devoted their energies to work with the dying will undoubtedly quickly grasp the underlying meaning and significance of Kubler-Ross remarks. Nevertheless, when he tries to explain these extraordinary human achievements, his theories are able to capture only the barest fragments of the remarkable transcendent experiences. People shall consider this lag between theory and practice first by attempting to identify where and why current theory fails to explain this crucial dimension of their thanatological work. It will be argued that many of these experiences, being of a psychological-spiritual nature, must be placed within a psychological-spiritual theoretical framework in order to close this gap between theory and practice. The current lag will be accounted for by a popular trend to deny the existence of the human spirit and to accept the materialistic logic of modern-day science.
