ABSTRACT
In this chapter we summarize and present the overall conclusions that result from this study. We briefly review the causes of the food and financial crises of the 1980s and of the more general and long-run development perspectives facing Africa today; we examine the usefulness and the limitations of the econometric modeling of African economies; we present the most important conclusions of the econometric exercise and examine the long-term development prospects of Africa.
