ABSTRACT

Linus Pauling was one of the most distinguished scientists of the 20th century. He was a pioneer in applying quantum theory to the study of complex molecules and founded the science of molecular biology. A charismatic speaker and effective political activist, he campaigned successfully against atmospheric nuclear testing and resisted the pressures of McCarthyism during the 1950s. He was the only person to win two unshared Nobel Prizes (Goertzel & Goertzel, 1995).
