ABSTRACT
The dementing process affects the interaction between the person suffering from a dementia syndrome and his or her social network. Because of organic brain changes, the sufferer begins to perceive the world differently from his/her care-giver. Based on this altered understanding of the world, the behaviour of the dementia sufferer will start to change. These changes in behaviour can affect the relationship with their primary care-givers whose ability to continue the care might be affected.
