ABSTRACT

Working in a small rural primary school with Year 2 children, I wanted to see if they changed their initial observations of and/or views about sculpture, after work spread over a period of five months. I hoped to develop the children’s appreciation of sculpture and to promote a greater understanding of three dimensional forms. By the end of the project there was some evidence (from conversations and sketches) to suggest that all the children were looking more closely at particular sculptures than they had done initially.
